EMAIL Your web hosting service can provide you with various methods of accessing email, POP, SMTP, WEBMAIL or forwarding of emails to another email address. POP,SMTP,WEBMAIL In order to use POP/SMTP or WEBMAIL you must have web address such as mail.yourdomain.co.uk or pop.yourdomain.co.uk. This can easily be done by using the control panel provided by your DOMAIN provider (123-reg, telivo, etc). You add a new DNS entry A record and use a web address like above. You must also set the MX record to point to this new web address. DNS Example: Mail Server Records (MX) Mail Server Priority mail.yourdomain.co.uk 10 A Records Hostname IP Address www .yourdomain.co.uk 212.241.217.16 mail .yourdomain.co.uk 212.241.217.16 Once that is done you can setup your mailboxes via the control panel web address given to you... Select your domain and then mail. Click "Add New Mail Name" Then choose the email address you want.. You can have multiple email boxes if you have more than one person viewing the email or you can create just one email box with multiple alias allowing the one email box to pickup multiple email addresses. When this is done you can pickup and send the mail using POP/SMTP as follows:- POP Server: mail.yourdomain.co.uk OR 212.241.217.16 SMTP Server: mail.yourdomain.co.uk OR 212.241.217.16 Login:
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Password: yourpassword SMTP requires Login authentication, so make sure you enable this. OR Webmail: For webmail to work correctly you must create a DNS A record for webmail.yourdomain.co.uk points to 212.241.217.16. Then to access just type http://webmail.yourdomain.co.uk any where:) For other tutorials on using your Plesk Control Panel check out http://www.webhosting.uk.com/plesk.php |
